Nannini-Peggs complete RBI qualifier on SunGard Front Arena Class40
Italian skipper Marco Nannini and British yacht racing partner Paul Peggs have completed their 300 miles qualifier for the Round Britain and Ireland Race race organised by the Royal Western Yacht Club of England due to start from Plymouth on June 6th 2010. The duo will take part in the race aboard the Akilaria Class40 owned by Nannini, renamed SunGard Front Arena for the occasion following the sponsorship for the race.
Marco and Paul completed the 300 miles qualifying passage during the Easter weekend, just 2 days after launching the boat following a winter refit. The boat was notably raced in the 2008/2009 Portimao Global Ocean Race as Mowgli.
It was the first time we sailed the boat and it really is a fantastic machine, safe, strong, and yet incredibly fast, i couldnt think of a better boat to take part in the RBI in June - commented Skipper Marco Nannini.
Marco Nannini won his Class in the 2009 OSTAR single handed transatlantic race also organised by the Royal Western Yacht Club. Paul Peggs who already competed twice in the past in the RBI and can boast a very strong ocean CV including a mini Transat.
