Lots of hard work in the Poole to Solent return race
Dead on beat all the way back, short tacking a class 40 solo makes for a lot of hard work... Far from perfect start I sailed to the finish with the leading group taking fifth on SunGard Front Arena, but oh boy was I knackered when I crossed the line... Too little space to use ballast I had to reef down to keep the boat pointing high and was a little overpowered in the Solent beat with some messy tacks that didn't help me gaining ground...
Excellent racing though and excellent training I really enjoyed the weekend, the Solo Offshore Racing Club has done a fantastic job with the introduction of this Coastal Series.
I fell asleep on the train back to London and really looking forward to a nice night sleep... Back in the office tomorrow.
The Round Britain and Ireland is appraching fast with the start now just four weeks away then straight into the preparations for the big race this season the Route du Rhum at the end of October.
Ciao
