Fiercesome racing at the Round Britain and Ireland

The finish line lies 25 miles ahead of us, at the last position report
we downloaded it appears the we may be in second place which
a real surprise considering night and early morning we had...

Unfortunately in the first hours of the morning we had a nasty wrap of
the spinnaker around the forestay which took considerable time to
resolve with some damage to the sails still to be assessed...

At the time we lay in 3rd but at the next position report we had dropped
behind another boat and were 4th among the class 40s, with at least
one of the multis also ahead of us...

After the wrap, with wind by then up to 25kt we hoisted the A6
asymmetric and oh boy did we run. We had peaks of 30kt of wind, and
recorded a max speed of 18kt, it was tense, it was exilarating, it
was spectacular...

The following two position reports showed two of the class 40s had
dropped in the ranks while we had clocked very fast miles, only Phesheya
had in fact gained even further on us, Nick Legatt is going real strong.

Now the wind has dropped to just 10kt which makes for a slow run to the
finish, we can't see any of the boats, Phesheya is too far to catch, and
let's hope the miles we put between us and the likes of Spliff and Solo
will provide enough a margin to see us to the finish line ahead of them.

very very tired, we're giving the all in, just spent half an hour moving
all the stacking boxes on the boat to adjust the weight distribution of
the boat to the lighter wind.

It has been raining all morning and early afternoon, wet and
miserable... but some of the moments of sailing today will remain as
some of my best sailing memories... holding the tiller, knowing you have
to just bear and grin as the wind gusts to 30kt and there is nothing you
can do, you must run with it without flipping the boat on the side, boat
taking off and surfing in a magnificent splatter of spray...
